What to do

Fishing is the major attraction at Burrum Heads and you can catch anything from Mangrove Jack, Flathead, Whiting, Bream, Moses Perch, Grunter, Estuary Cod, Trevally, Barramundi to mouthwatering mud crabs and beautifully sweet river prawns. Buxton has a double lane boast ramp that is accessible at all tides

Buxton Bush Camp is only a few kilometers away from the ocean and mouth of the Burrum River and lovely unspoiled beaches, perfect for a beach stroll or a fish off the bank. Deep water access to the ocean offers the opportunity of serious deep sea fishing.

The estuary and its tributaries are also perfectly suited for other activities such as kayaking, canoeing, sailing, water-skiing etc.

Native bushland along the esplanade provides a shaded area for socializing, great little walks along the creek and for bird-watching as the area offers an abundance of wildlife.
